A 22 acre family run park with access to on site sandy beach.Large open grass playing areas.Beach fishing. 30 mls from Dublin.
On the strength of the now ancient Practical Caravan review of 2005, we decided to commence our tour of the South East of Ireland at Wolohans. John (Wolohan )is an easy going kind of guy who within minutes of arrival was with us to help us get pitched up and make sure all was well. The pitches are not marked out....the beauty of this site is it's simplicity.....park up beside a mains hook up (or not if you choose to ) and admire the stunning views of the Irish Sea from your hill top pitch.
There is also a large grassy area provided for campers who pass through.
This site has regular guests...including an elderly couple who have been going here every year for the month of August since 1970......here you can find peace and relaxation....you really can. There is an almost private sandy bay at the bottom of some quite steep but safe steps and for children the water play in the sea here is adequately safe. Brittas Bat beach which itself is a stunning place to go and unwind is amere 6 km round the corner.
Wicklow town with its choice of bars and (lots of) Italian Restaurants amongst others is only 3 km away.
John Wolohan has ensured that the caravanner/camper is well catered for in his provision of laundry facilities, clean showering and toilet blocks and an accessories shop.
His rates are not excessive for the facilities and scenery on offer and the man himself is a true Irish gentleman with an infectious smile !!!
If visitng....call or e-mail in advance and make sure that if travelling in from Wicklow Town that you do pass the first 'Silver Strand' Park which is full of statics as Wolohans is a short distance further down the road.
Do visit....you won't regret it !

Practical Caravan Great Escapes
This site, run by the Wolohan family, has been welcoming caravanners for more than 70 years, which must make it one of the longest established sites in Ireland. Situated on the famous Silver Strand, the site has stunning unspoiled views over one of Wicklow’s most beautiful sandy beaches, and most pitches have sea views. Large grass pitches make pitching up easy, but you may need chocks to level your caravan.
A footpath connects the site to the beach, which offers safe bathing, as well as fishing. Dogs, although allowed on site, are not permitted on the beach. Golfers can take advantage of the golf course next door to the site. In addition, Wolohans is
three miles from the town
of Wicklow.
