Tried to book Caravan Club site in York a few days before but were unsuccessful. We Booked Goosewood Holiday Park instead and really glad we did. Very friendly welcome and smashing little site for tourers, great pitches and handy shop and newish toilet block. Showers were lovely! Also nice childs playground with fun zipwire for the kids.
Took our dog for a nice walk round the site which isn't massive. Nice pond if you like fishing.
We'd certainly go back!

I cannot praise the staff enough, this was our first experience touring, although we are seasoned campers, nothing was a bother for the very helpfull warden. The children's play area was excellent and well used. The toilet blocks were a little tired, and in need of some updating, never the less they were very clean. I was dissapointed that the health suit was closed as this was not meantioned at the time I booked. Excellently placed for the Rawcliffe park and ride.

What a delightful site, The staff were very helpful.
The childrens play area is one of the best i have seen. The fishing is absolutely first class, whichever style or bait that you choose to use, you will catch fish. Rudd and Roach to1 1/2lb Tench to 4lb Carp up to low double figures. The pitch i was on was huge, i have a large twin axle van and i had space to spare.
This was my first visit and it certainly will not be my last.13 July 2008

We didn't actually stay at Goosewood but we did drive through it and in it and looked round. We didn't like the look of the site because everywhere looked too dark and dreary for us. However, I do believe this site would be lovely for the right people. The receptionist's seemed nice though too. We weren't too keen on the area either, so decided to move on to the Lake District (all within one day!!)

We have been going to Goosewood every Easter for the last 5 years. Its a great spot especially if one of you is not on holiday and has to go back to work.

The site is very clean and staff are very helpful and friendly we book as we are leaving so we don't forget to book for the following year

Property Manager Response (10 Jan 2008):

Thank you for your review, we realise that our popularity means that you have to book weel in advance especially at peak times ie Bank holidays.

Review from Barbara Kilding Stockton on Tees.
This is a lovely clean site with touring pitches that are well placed and not on top of each other, hubby loves the fishing and only comes back to the caravan when the hunger pangs set in, Grandchildren are well amused with the outdoor adventure park, they come back looking like kids from stig of the dump and are up bright and early to get back out in the park. Toilets and showers are very clean, and the bathroom a godsend for the mucky kids. The staff are very obliging and escort you to your pitch and help in every way possible.excellent site for disabled people I can even take my electric scooter through the woods and has easy access to the lake.

This site is brill - good fishing, well laid out and very pretty.
toilet and showers A1 ,a small but flat park that is very relaxing with a small but well stocked shop.
Not for groups of lads/lasses but the kids are very safe -a card operated barrier means only access to those that should be there - Roll on the summer Stewy

Practical Caravan Top 100 parks Award 2007

A new and unique feature of this site is its health suite. For a small extra charge you can make use of the jacuzzi, outdoor hot tub, sauna and exercise machines. If pampering is not your thing, then there is a well stocked fishing lake. Children have their own play area, and if it’s wet there is a play barn with table football and a pool table.
Other facilities include a small shop on site and a well appointed wash block that has
a bathroom and free hot water.
Pitches are spacious and open. They are surrounded by woodland so there are plenty of wooded walks to exercise your dog. More adventurous walkers will love
to explore the nearby North Yorkshire Moors.
The seaside resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey are all within easy reach, and there are plenty of other varied attractions nearby, including Eden Camp war museum, York Minster, the National Railway Museum and the Jorvic Viking Museum.

Practical Motorhome independent site reviews Feb 2007

This park is situated in the lovely countryside of the North Yorkshire moors. It is very well signposted and so is easy
to find.
On arrival there is a well laid out reception area with a small shop attached. There is also a large supermarket, ten minute’s drive away, towards York.
The site is accessible via a security barrier (£5 refundable deposit) which leads to the large, grassed, level touring area. All pitches are large, with adequate separation from your neighbour.
An unusual amenity on site is a health suite (log cabin) which has an external 5m-wide hot tub, sauna, gym equipment, shower and changing rooms to hire in
45-minute pre-booked periods.
Goose Wood has good facilities for those who do not use on-board toilets or showers. The buildings are clean and are complemented by a laundry and a separate room with full-size bath and lashings of free hot water. It’s just the job for scrubbing up the children after a full day’s trekking in the North Yorkshire Moors, or after they have been kept busy playing in the site’s excellent children’s play area.
Be aware that parking in York
is expensive and spaces are at a premium so, when visiting the city, use the park-and-ride bus service.
