a family with children, a tourer/motorhomer

This is such a wonderful site. My son is able to play, explore & enjoy the wildlife. The dog walk area is great...we can let the dogs burn off some energy whilst the coffee is brewing in the morning. It's a wonderful location for walks. The staff are very helpful & nice.

Practical Caravan Great Escapes

Set over six acres of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Wood Nook is part of a working farm that can be reached via a single-track road. The site is spread over two fields separated by a stone wall, each served by a gravel road: the first is the main touring area, and the second has outfits dotted around its perimeter with a wide open space in the middle. Both fields are gently sloping, but the 28 hardstanding pitches are reasonably level.
Old farm buildings have been converted to provide the park’s facilities, which are centred around a charming courtyard and include coin-operated showers. A small play area provides entertainment for children, and the site has been awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for its recycling facilities.
The site will also appeal to those seeking a walking or activity holiday. Kilnsey Trekking Centre offers everything from short, scenic rides for children along the River Wharfe to adventurous moorland treks. The nearby trout farm is fascinating, and a little further afield at Skipton, you can hop aboard the famous Settle-to-Carlisle train. Two miles from Wood Nook is Grassington, a popular tourist destination in Upper Wharfedale. Every June, the village hosts a festival that offers
a mixed programme of poetry, comedy and music. There are also numerous agricultural shows in the area throughout the summer.

This pretty little park is sheltered by native woodland and the gentle limestone fells of upper Wharfedale. This is ideal walking country and the park has access to many scenic rambles. Personally maintained by the Thompson family, the facilities are in converted farm buildings around a courtyard. They are spotlessly clean and the small shop sells all the basic essentials, plus some local crafts and delicious homemade pies and cakes.

There are two pleasant pitching areas. The first has gravel hardstanding pitches, which are divided by grass. The second area is made up of hardstanding or neatly mown grass pitches and is also used by tents. All of the site’s 48 pitches have 10A hook-ups.

A dog walk borders one side of the park and golf, fishing, pony trekking and swimming are all available nearby. The more adventurous can pothole, climb or go ballooning, or you could hire a narrow boat along the canal at Skipton. square, quaint little shops, pubs and cafes.

The National Park Exhibition Centre is on the edge of the village of Grassington and has details of a number of other walks and places to visit, including Kilnsey Crag, Malham Tarn and Cove, Bolton Abbey, Embsay Steam Railway and Parcevall Hall and its gardens. Wood Nook is a David Bellamy Gold Award-winning park, so you can be sure that you’ll be having a healthy holiday too.
