Visited here last month. A lot has changed since the last time I was here. Turns out its under new ownership, no longer the quiet peaceful site that we have enjoyed. Gypsy like lager louts walking about the site with lager cans. People sitting in their awnings till 2/3am in the morning obviously oblivious to other people round them. Dogs running about off the leads peeing and pooing everywhere even the dog walk is littered with dog poo. I watched one dog lift its leg onto someone's tent (not the dogs fault just some lazy owner)and another dog racing about as if it was on a racetrack (I overheard the owner saying it needed exercised !!!! There was also boys taking turns to play on a quad bike. The toilets are now left open for everyone, not safe for the kids to go on their own and I didnt even feel safe taking a shower as I didnt know who was going to walk in. A mini bus came in with a whole bunch of guys and they all went in and used the toilet. I also witnessed what looked like two eastern european guys come in use the shower and drive back out. Wont be long before the travellers move in. The price per night has also gone up dramatically, if you want to pay £20.00 to stay here then I would suggest you throw your money down the drain. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. No owner around to keep the place in check. The only good thing was that the friendly and curteous warden was still there albeit not for much longer atleast the toilets were cleaned when he was there. Its a shame looks like the owner is trying to enhance the site i.e. pitches have their own drive in now but with all the other stuff going on he is wasting his time.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at this park. It is a very quiet and peaceful site. It is an excellent base for exploring the area. The park itself is very well laid out and you don't feel that you are on top of your neighbours. Good sized pitches. Although it doesn't have a dedicated play park, it has a great woodland walk and a great bridge for the kids to play pooh sticks. Very helpful and friendly owners. We have already booked up to go again in the School Holidays.

Practical Caravan Top 100 Parks 2007

This small site, just off the
A9, 17 miles from Stirling and 12 miles outside Perth, is easy to find. Despite the close proximity of the A9 the park is quiet and secluded, and is the perfect place from which to explore the beautiful countryside of Perthshire.
The location is also great for a short stopover if you’re travelling further north, although we would recommend spending more than a single night here if you are looking for a site that lets you get away from it all so that you have time to properly immerse yourself in Scotland’s remote, rugged scenery.
Laid out in a horseshoe shape with the tourers lining the perimeter, the pitches are separated by stretches of well kept grass and are sheltered by pines and mature deciduous trees. A mixture of grass and gravel areas, log-style facility buildings and a tree-lined centre designed to attract wildlife lend a rural feel to this pretty site. Superb views of the neighbouring majestic hills add to the ‘away-from-it-all’ feel. There is no children’s play area – only a recreation field – but this hardly matters when there is so much countryside for families to explore. Having said that, the site is best suited to couples seeking total peace and quiet.
If you do feel the need to get back to civilisation, Auchterarder is just a 20-minute drive away from the shops and facilities of Stirling and Perth.

Practical Motorhome independent site reviews Jan 2007

Those of us looking to get away from it all and revel in Scotland’s remote, rugged scenery can do exactly that at this small Perthshire site. There are just 23 pitches here, which means it remains calm and peaceful at all times. Best of all is the superb view of majestic hills rising away from the site.
The pitches are spread out over two zones: one, an oval area, with pitches positioned mainly around the perimeter, and the other comprising a single row of pitches. All pitches are separated by stretches of well-kept grass, and both areas are sheltered by a mixture of pines and mature deciduous trees. Smaller trees feature in the centre of the oval and create a hoe for wildlife.
The single washblock is basic but clean, and it is kept heated during the colder months. Dishwashing facilities are located in a small adjacent building. There is no children’s play area here other than a recreation field, but this hardly matters when there is so much countryside to explore.
Having said that, the site is probably best suited to couples seeking total peace and quiet.

Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews.

This get-away-from-it-all park is managed and run by the owner, Stuart Robertson, who lives right next to the site’s entrance. Auchterarder is located in a pleasant setting, just off the main north-south A9 arterial route between Stirling and Perth. This is a quiet site that is convenient for short or long stays, and is easily accessed. It makes an excellent base for exploring some of the wonderful surrounding countryside, such as the Falls of Ness, the Glendevon Forest, or the charming nearby town of Crieff. The town of Auchterarder is also close by and, as a home to many species of bird, it is a great place for keen ornithologists. It is famed for its mile-and-a-half long high street, which gives it the alternative local name of ‘Lang Toon’.
The site is level and flat all over, and can easily accommodate large US-style motorhomes, RVs, tents and caravans. The access roads around the site are made of well-worn tarmac, and the two touring zones lie in sheltered areas that are surrounded by trees.
One area is oval in shape, with mainly perimeter pitches and a few located on the central grass area. The second zone is separated from the first by trees and hedging, but has a single row of pitches facing a rally field.
All the pitches are grass, and two-thirds have mains hook-up. Tents are accommodated on a separate grassy area. There is an extended car park area to cater for late arrivals.
The single timber-built toilet building is showing its age, although it is generally very well maintained. Other on-site facilities, such as dish-washing sinks and a vegetable preparation area, are located in a separate covered outdoor area close to the toilet buildings. The main reception is located at the site’s entrance.

Practical Caravans Top 100 Parks Awards 2004

The Auchterarder Caravan Park is situated just off the main north-south A9 arterial route between Stirling and Perth. Despite this, however, it retains an air of peace and quiet at all times.

The 23 hardstanding pitches are divided into two zones and surrounded by lush, level grass. One area is laid out as an oval with mainly perimeter pitches but there are also a few on the central grass area. The second zone is separated from the first by trees and hedging, and has a single row of pitches. All pitches have mains hook-up.

The single timber-built toilet block is open 24 hours a day but has no specific disabled facilities. It is generally in good running order and is heated in the colder months. Other site facilities, such as the dishwashing sinks and the vegetable preparation area, are located in a separate and covered outdoor area close to the toilet block and main reception at the entrance, though. If you want to take a break from the cooking, Auchterader has a restaurant that serves up reasonably priced pub-style fare and fast food. Access roads around the
site are tarmac.

Some caravans are accepted for seasonal pitches and some also for storage by arrangement with the owners.

This site would suit older couples who are seeking the peace and quiet of the Perthshire countryside, particularly because there is no specified children’s play area. However, visitors can put the peace and quiet to good use, and catch up on some reading – there’s a library on site.
