Situated on hill with panoramic views of Firth of Clyde and islands with grass and hard standings.
Toilets - filthy, reported to environmental health (we have photographs if interested)
Residents in static vans - friendly
Local louts visited site under influence of drink/drugs, this went unnoticed by proprietor due to office being 500m from site
Having received a frieldly welcome from proprietor's wife, we were left to choose between 2 pitches, the best of which was next to a residential static van. We parked our camper and erected our awning and the occupier of the van chatted to us in a friendly manner. The following day we visited the nearby Isle of Bute and on our return decided to suffer the toilets and stay for one more evening. Whilst fiance was paying the proprietor's wife the £12 fee, the proprietor took his opportunity of finding me alone and stating "that man pays £1500 per yer, do you think he wants to look at a tent?", this was in reference to the awning. He said it wasn't worth it and asked us to leave. Fiance returned having paid to stay another night, swiftly demanded refund and packed up, whilst doing so received sympathetic views from residents who were sorry to see us leave under the circumstances, they also commented on state of toilets.
I do not recommend this as a suitable site for tourers.
