A small friendly park set in countryside, 7 miles west of Edinburgh. Excellent amenities with free showers, privacy cubicles, small laundry and disabled facilities. Dogs are welcome and we have lovely walks to Almondell Country Park and the Union Canal. Mostly level grass with some hard standings most with 16amp electric hook-ups. Ideal for visiting Edinburgh, Royal Highland Showground, Linlithgow for history, Livingston for shopping, the Falkirk Wheel and the International Climbing Arena at Ratho. Also, well placed for touring further afield. Try our new Timbertents for a warm and dry alternative to camping. Call in on your way north or south, or stay awhile - you will be most welcome.
Launderette, sandpit with toys, free hot showers, privacy cubicles
It has been a while since we camped at Linwater, but it was such a possitive experiance that we have been twice and intend to stop there again on our next break in Scotland.
We have stayed in many camping/caravaning sites and Linwater is probably my favourite!
The whole place is clean, pleasant and well cared for with recycling bins for all. The lady who runs it is so friendly and a joy to deal with. Even to the extent that our dog - who is very nervous and normally barks at strangers - leapt out of the car and ran over to the owner, tail a-wagging to say goodbye before we left! I was amazed!
There is a shop to buy essentials and if you would like bread, milk or a newspaper in the morning then she will order them for you! Such a luxury at a campsite!
Beautiful toilet block. Really you couldn't ask for more in a site. I would 100% recommend this place and I will be returning again and again on our many trips around Scotland. It's a fantastic place to stop off if you're driving far north. They even have wooden perminant tents that you can use if you're camping over for just the one night and don't want the hassle of getting all your gear out.
Decent prices too. I have nothing to complain about with this site.
we drove up, not booked a pich but the lady at the desk was very helpful, got us a pitch although she was rather full.i was tired after a long drive but her cherry smile and friendly chatter soon made me feel at home. The site although small was very well kept, no ltter, no weeds growing where they should'nt be growing, toilets were as one expected to be spotless, there where a number of bins for recyling, no excuses for not recyling, not like otherbigger sites. It was our first but certainly not our last visit, have tried in the past two weeks to get in, but she's booked, not being surprised at that, the price of a pitch was very reasonable as well, concidering you where in touching distance of Edinburgh.
