Practical Caravan Top 100 Parks 2007

Moss Wood Caravan Park
has been wowing visitors for more than 30 years. After starting out as a basic site in
a stunning location, it has evolved into a well-appointed and beautifully maintained park that provides something for just about everyone.
A carefully manicured grassy field has large pitches – all hardstanding and fully serviced – spread around the perimeter. There are also ‘superior’ pitches for vans longer than 21ft. It is separated from the area set aside for static caravans by
a high hedge and mature trees, making it a separate entity.
There is a well-equipped children’s play area, which is
also screened from the caravan pitches by mature conifers.
A large field is set aside for
ball games, cycling and other energy-consuming activities. Neither impinges on the peace and quiet of the site’s touring area.
The site has a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award. There’s plenty of wildlife to see, including squirrels, rabbits, a large variety of birds and even badgers. The washblock is immaculately maintained, with piping hot water 24 hours a day. There is a small, well-stocked shop, which sells
a variety of fresh local products and has an excellent book and video exchange.
Combine these with the attractions of the local area and you have the ideal blend of
a tranquil site offering daytime
fun and a dynamic nightlife. The surrounding area offers historic sites, pleasant walks and more strenuous activities.
Blackpool, Morecambe, Lancaster, the Lake District and the beautiful Lune Valley are easily accessible by car, while the Forest of Bowland is virtually on the doorstep. And because it is a few miles from the M6, Moss Wood is also an ideal stopover for those travelling from the North or South for holidays elsewhere.
