Practical Motorhome Snail Trail recommended site July 2006
If you are touring this area and looking for a quiet site then Fallowfield Dene is ideal for you. It doesn’t have great provision for children, choosing instead to focus on the serenity of its rural seclusion.
The pitching areas are split nicely by mature trees, which add to the site’s greenery. We were put in the level hardstanding section, which is a good spot for motorhomes, away from the tents which were kept at the top of the park, close to the washrooms.
There was a waste drain, too, but it was too close to the wall to use easily. The washrooms are absolutely immaculate and
a pleasure to use, although check the opening times to ensure that you get your shower before the extended cleaning break. There are 16A hook-ups to the majority of pitches and gas exchange is also available on site.
In terms of location, the site is a short drive from Hexham. If you want to explore on foot, the nearest place worth a visit is the Boatside Inn, which serves enticing evening meals at sensible pub prices. More importantly, though, Hadrian’s Wall is easily accessed from the site, being within a mile of Fallowfield Dene’s entrance.
