Thirlestane Castle Park is beautifully situated on the outskirts of the Royal Burgh town of Lauder, within the historic parklands of Thirlestane Castle and on banks of the River Leader. Just five minutes' walk from local shops and hotels, the Park is equally well located for those wishing to find a central base from which to explore the many attractions of the Scottish Borders.

We are an established 4 star camping and touring park with an exciting new holiday home development.

First impressions- clean, attractive site. Nice area, easy access and fairly quiet.

My second impression was formed on the second day of our stay. One of the wardens accused us of deliberately misleading them by putting an awning up. When I pointed out I had put it on the entrance form when we booked in I was told that I had to VERBALLY tell them or I was misleading them and that they would be missing bookings as we were too close to an adjacent place. She failed to note the other 5 adjacent empty spots and the awning that our neighbour on the other side had put up. The entire lecture was conducted in a very rude and abrasive manner in front of another campsite guest.

Spent an hour trying to find a last minute booking at a more professional site to rescue our weekend- I wonder why Thirlestane Castle was the only site not sold out on Easter weekend. Very disappointed- avoid like the plague unless you fancy being abused.
