We have always loved this site, the location is second to none, (if you like pitching up next to a 'river' with narrow boats, swans etc, gliding up and down) - very, very peaceful and relaxing. Very well maintained grounds, grass cutting is obviously a regular feature. Trees and plants well looked after, and a new fish pond outside the bar.
The owners were very welcoming, and keen to make our stay as pleasant as possible. There are now only four touring pitches, and quite frankly three of them were quite small. One good thing, you are not charged extra for an awning.
There is still a bar on site, but not serving food, and only open at selected times. However, staff are happy to provide cutlery, etc. and allow you to order a 'take away' to eat in the bar area. It was a busy but cold weekend, with all touring pitches full, and many 'resident' tourers on site. This apparently accounted for the electricity tripping out on a fairly regular basis. Not too pleasant at four o'clock in the morning!!!!!! - had to get up and switch the heating to gas.(the joys of caravanning).
The shower and toilet block is definitely looking very tired and in need of a makeover. At the time of our visit, one of the two shower cubicles in the ladies had been closed, (and I understand that the gents was the same). The other one had a 20p slot machine to pay for three minutes of hot water - I didn't see anyone using the showers!!!!!!
Energy saving light bulbs in the toilet cubicles were a bit irritating, as you were generally on your way out by the time they had come fully on.
If you like fishing and relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, then this site could be your answer.
