Lothian Bridge is a newly opened picturesque Caravan Park for tourers, situated on the A7 near the historic village of Newtongrange in Midlothian.
On and around the park you can enjoy such pursuits as woodland walkways, a cycle path, fishing, golf, swimming, country parks and horse riding.
The pitches, some hard standing, are all of a good size, fitted with electric points.
Adjacent to the site is a hotel serving good food and caters for the family.
We camped here for 3 night, its a lovely clean park with great toilet facilities. Showers were really good too. The bridge is breath taking and our children loved camping at it. The site is a great base for sight seeing and there is lots to see and do. Tesco is just up the road so nice and handy. We thought that we had hit upon a site that we would visit time after time, sadly the ground is not great for pitching a tent on pegs only went in so far then would not budge, tried to pitch in a few areas but the same happened. Spoke to woman in the office who said no one had never complained before. My brother inlaw and friend also had the same issue when they tried to pitch their tents! We will need to buy all new pegs before next camping trip. The site is on the A7 so a very busy road that is non stop but that didnt stop our kids from sleeping which was good. All in all its a lovely site and if we had a caravan we would revisit time and time again, but sadly not with our tent.
Very disappointed. We are Caravan Club family members and have been for some time, but thought we'd try this site. Tried to book a touring pitch for myself, hubby and 2 x teens but were refused on the grounds that our family vehicle that we chose to pull our caravan is a Volkswagon Transporter (modified) van with windows (we also use our Vauxhall car - but use the van can transport pedal cycles too). I thought it was odd that they'd actually asked for details of our tow vehicle, until I was told they 'don't take vans' - end of story ! It made me very sad !
Lothian Bridge Caravan Park
My family and I stayed in one of their newly built self catering holiday homes and can highly recommend it to anyone that is wanting a nice clean, modern place to stay for a quiet weekend away. We all loved the quirkyness of it being located under the viaduct, it added to the appeal of the place. It is not far from a 24hr Tesco which is very handy and some lovely places to eat and drink. It is handy to have a car as you can explore other places roundabout. Our only complaint is that we were only staying for two nights and were just getting settled when it was time to leave. We found the warden very pleasant and helpful and we are all definetly going to go back for another weekend - a longer one this time.
Lothian Bridge Caravan Park, Dalkeith, Lothian, Scotland
We stayed here for two nights when visiting Edinburgh. It cannot be described as picturesque more as 'dramatic', being sited under a victorian viaduct and on the main A7, just a couple of miles north of the Mining Museum. The facilities are adequate and spotlessly clean. It is very convenient if you are keen to stay near the city or tour the small villages around this area. Unfortunately for us,it was just too noisy. The site wardens were not easily available and the security gate arrangement was a bit haphazard (one had to leave the vehicle to open it and then again to shut it) which meant it was often left open. Neither of the photos show this site which is a pity.

Edinburgh and southern Scotland are easy to explore from Lothianbridge Caravan Park near the A7. There are grass and hardstanding pitches, all with electric hook-up. Washrooms, washing-up sinks and launderette, and a play area are on site.
There are plenty of facilities that are a brief walk from the site, including a food shop, pub, restaurant and an indoor heated swimming pool. The area offers fishing, golf and a sandy beach, which is only eight miles away.
