Rushin House Caravan Park is ideally placed for exploring West Fermanagh and the surrounding areas of Cavan and Leitrim. Beleek Pottery and Marble Arch Caves Geopark are two world famous attractions within a short distance of the park. Other local attractions include Cuilcagh Mountain Park, Florencecourt House, Coralea Activity Centre, the Ulster Way Walking Path, Enniskillen Museum and MacNean Sculpture Trail. There are many other local events and festivals throughout the summer.
One can only give an unqualified excellent to this site. The owner is most helpful and friendly, the site's position is without equal with stunning views over the lake and hills, and the facilities are first class - even the free wifi is at 20mbs speed. It is well placed for day trips Sligo, Enniskillen and many other attractive places.
Rushin House is by far the best all round site we have visited. The owners are the most welcoming and accomodating couple. The facilities are spotless no matter what time of the day you use them. The showers are to die for - hot, powerful and clean! The site is small (25 pitches) and extremely well maintained. For us this site is a home away from home. We stay there as often as we can. Pre booking in the summer is a must as it is so popular.
Rushin House Caravan Park, Fermanagh, Northern Ireland
Rushin House Caravan Park is a small family run site situated on the border of County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland. It is situated on the banks of Lough MacNean just under one mile from the village of Belcoo in Northern Ireland and just over one mile from Blacklion in the Republic.
The situation is beautiful with uninterrupted views of the lake (as long as you get a pitch on the front row) and the hills around the surrounding area. It can take 25 caravans/camper wagons on very spacious concrete hard standing pitches, each of which has its own electric hook up (20A), water tap and drain. A criticism would be that these concrete pitches are so wide that there really is little or no room for an awning. The site has very high standard toilet/shower/camping kitchen facilities which are clean and heated. It also has a good play area for kids, although some caution is needed with children on this caravan park due to its lakeside situation.
My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when the site owner visited us shortly after we had arrived to check if we needed any help and to make sure we knew where the facilities were located.
This would be one of the most remote sites in Northern Ireland at roughly 100 miles from Belfast (or any of the ferry ports for entry to Northern Ireland), but fortunately the roads to this area from Belfast are excellent and certainly would be a pleasant surprise to people who have only caravanned in the Republic of Ireland.
As stated in the owners own write up this park is close to numerous visitor attractions in what is one of Ireland's most scenic areas, but is also well located for anyone heading either from the Belfast area or the ports to tour down the west coast of the Republic of Ireland, to use as a stopover.
While the site is not perfect (due to lack of awning space) it is without doubt one of the nicest sites on the island.
