We pre-booked a pitch at this site and when we turned up as arranged we found the entrance office shut. It took approximately 25 minutes to actually find someone. The gentleman who seem to run the site lives in a motorhome close to the entrance.

When we did manage to find him he was not helpful, almost as if we had disturbed him!

The site is comprised a plentiful number of sites. They are spacious and benefit from double width concrete hardstanding. There is also a grass space sufficient for an awning.

There is a nice walk around the site which includes a rugby pitch and the location beside the lake is beautiful. There is a child's play park onsite but it would benefit from updating or indeed some fresh paint since it appeared very tired.

However, the toilet and shower facilities are three star at very best if not two star. The toilets are cramped and open to the elements making them particularly cold when the wind blows in off the lake. The showers are cramped.

The campsite is extremely expensive, without doubt the dearest one we have been to costing approximately 40 euro per night when the cost of the showers are included.

There was no shop onsite but Donegal town is close by and offers great dining and shopping plus plenty to do.

We had planned on staying a week at this site but given the less than welcoming reception, the lack of quality of facilities and the cost we stayed two nights and moved on to a truly five star site nearby.

The site was vey nice however i feel i have been mislaid with the priceing. On our arrival i was given all these hidden charges ,electricity, extra car, tent and awning charges and even an extra preson charge,i feel the web site needs to be updated in terms of the correct prices and what it is that we need to pay for. Lovely Site.

A great base if travelling from Northern Ireland and wishing to explore all around Donegal and down into Sligo. Even for going back to Fermanagh.
Site is easily accessed and well spaced out....toilet and shower facilities are fine.
Restauarant/Bar on site....not gourmet...but is an option.
10/15 minute walk to Ballyshannon where there is a leisure centre and swimming pool just in case the weather is unfavourable. And some really nice pubs if that's what you're after.
Well worth a visit...
