fishing,
We were a little concerned that Actons Beachside Caravan & camping Park would be a little on the remote side. But on arrival were more than pleasantly surprised, on it's beautiful location and surrounding scenery, together with the town of Clivden being only a few minutes away by car.
Kris the owner couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful with advice and tips on where to go and visit.
There is a lovelly walk around the adjacent Omey Island, which is also accessable by car via a causway at low tide.
We were lucky with the weather during our 6 night stay which only made the stasy more memorable.
Kris told us that he plans to extend the current unisex toilets/shower facility into separate units for both sexes.
The only downside is that currently Ireland is very expensive, but hopefully the pound/euro exchange rate will improve to make this lovely country more affordable to visitors from the UK.
However, if you can afford a holiday in Ireland Actons Beach is a site we would deffinately recomend.
If I can find out how to we will add some digiital images to the Actons Beach website.

We were there for a week last year, and are going back again this year. There is wonderful swimming in safe sandy coves. The toilet block, which is kept scrupulously clean, has hot showers, which are excellent - we didn't use them much as we swam (neoprene-free) every day. If you want surfing, there's a beach on the other side of Clifden had big rollers every time we visited. The drinking water, courtesy of the well Kris has sunk, is some of the best I have ever tasted. To come out of the tent in the morning and walk on this wildflower meadow was a joy; free-drainig because of the sandy soil it grows on - which is why fires and disposable barbeques are frowned on. Recycling is encouraged courtesy of appropriate bins down at back of the shower block. All-in-all the best site we've ever camped on. There are some mobile homes for rent also
This has got to be one of the best sites ever. Fantastic scenery, Atlantic one side - 12 Bens the other (mountain range). Owner very helpful & friendly. Spacious pitches & everything clean. A lovely private beach with white sand. It's an eco park with it's own potable spring water. Stunning.
