Hoddom Castle Caravan and Camping Park can be found in partially wooded parkland in the grounds of a 16th Century Border Keep forming part of the 10,000 acre Hoddom and Kinmount Estates. To the north and east is the River Annan and Hoddom Castle Golf Course - providing just some of the many activities available.
visited this site in early july 2008. Excellent site near plenty to do and great countryside. The golf course looked great and the nearby towns of Annan and Dumfries were lovely. The food was basic but well enough prepared, the bar was lovely and very family and pet freindly. The shop was small with the necessary essentials. The facilities were both good for the kids and spotless and we would definitely go back.
I have stopped at this site several times now on my journeys north to south and vice versa. It's in a great location, only 10 minutes from the M74 and is a large, very well kept site that can usually accomodate you anytime, even with only 5 minutes notice!
It's in the grounds of an historic castle and has great walks around the site and through the surrounding woodland. It has a playpark for the kids and a pub/restaurant in the main area along with a small site shop. The pitches are well spaced and mostly hard standing and very easy to access.
I tend to use this site as a stop over on my way elsewhere but it wouldn't be a bad spot at all for a longer stop if you wanted to explore the Grenta Green/Borders area. It's great value for money.

Set in the grounds of Hoddom Castle, with walks around the gardens and the local woodland, this site is great for people who enjoy the outdoors.
The River Annan runs nearby and several golf courses are within easy reach. The site has a shop, gas exchange, washblock, newly upgraded disabled facilities, and a launderette. There is also a children’s play area, a restaurant that provides full-service and takeaway food. The bar is warmed by an open fire and there is live entertainment on some evenings.

This magnificent site has an aristocratic air about it, not least because many pitches offer a glimpse of Hoddom Castle, a Border keep built in the 16th century. The site is set in partially wooded parklands within the castle’s vast estate, the deciduous trees giving a wonderful autumn display at the end of the season.
Most pitches are hardstanding and are arranged along the driveways that wend their way gently through the park. They tend not to be totally flat, but the site will lend you levelling blocks.
As well as offering a great setting, the site has lots of activities, including a nine-hole golf course, fishing, tennis courts and a mountain bike route.
A well-stocked shop, a country pub and a restaurant are among the facilities housed in the castle. There is also mile upon mile of fantastic walking to be had in the spectacular local countryside.
This is a great site for those who want to enjoy a peaceful, location and the many outdoor pursuits Scotland has to offer.

Although it's only ten minutes from the busy M74, you are in a different world as you enter this park. Through the tall trees that line the long entrance drive, there are tantalising glimpses of Hoddom Castle. The castle is home to the park reception and well-stocked shop, games room, coach-house restaurant, country pub and central toilet facilities.
Access to the site is easy. You leave the main A74(M) at junction 19 (Ecclefechan), and follow the B725 into Hoddom. The site also has a one-way system and there are separate entry and exit gates.
The park is beautifully set out, with all pitches facing the woodland that marks the boundary of this 10,000-acre estate. The hardstanding pitches are arranged around winding roadways. Most pitches require a little work to ensure your 'van is level but once set up the park has lots to offer.
Fishermen are spoilt for choice with exclusive access to both river and loch fishing. Although the site closes at the end of October, arrangements can be made for fishermen (invariably motorcaravanners themselves) until mid-November.
The park has its own nine-hole golf course, with a further three 18-hole courses within ten miles. Hoddom is a working estate with countryside walkers well catered for by guided walks, given by a countryside ranger, on nature trails. Tennis is available on a hard court, there's a mountain bike trail and a well-equipped play area. Other fun things to do include crazy golf and outdoor draughts.
Those who are tempted off-site will find much to do in this relatively unexplored part of south-west Scotland. Just down the road is Gretna Green, well known to engaged couples, and Gretna Gateway Outlet Village is a must for bargain hunters.
The bustling market town of Lockerbie is only a few miles away and younger children will enjoy a visit to the nearby animal refuge at Mossburn. There is more fishing off-site, too, as well as horse riding and sailing.

• 17 miles to the impressive and ancient Caerlaverock Castle. It is claimed to be one of the most interesting and attractive in Scotland.

It feels as if you’re entering a different world as you make your way up the long entrance drive, with tantalising glimpses of Hoddom Castle through the tall trees.
The site has a separate entrance and exit, so there are no worries about getting stuck at the gate with a tourer coming the other way. The park reception, the well-stocked shop, a tastefully decorated country pub and the central toilet facilities are located in the castle itself.
The park is set in a beautiful 10,000-acre estate around the castle. All pitches look out towards the woodland marking the boundary area. The hardstanding pitches are arranged around the tarmac and gravel roads that wind through the park. Most require a little work to ensure your van is level, but the incline isn’t very steep and blocks are available on loan.
Fishermen are spoilt for choice with exclusive access to both river and loch fishing. The park has its own 9-hole golf course, with a further three 18-hole courses within 10 miles. Tennis is available on a hard court. There’s also a mountain bike trail and a well-equipped play area.
Just down the road is Gretna Green and the bustling market town of Lockerbie is only a few miles away. The animal refuge at Mossburn is close by, too.
All in all, this is a superb site for an active family holiday in a peaceful area.
