Edinburgh Caravan Club Site offers an ideal location for your caravanning holiday. Situated to the north of the city on the Firth of Forth, the site provides easy access to Edinburgh, Europe's festival capital and most beautiful city. In this unique historic setting, you can visit the castle which dings dramatically to the rock, (home to the Scottish Crown Jewels), walk down the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, (the Queen's official Scottish residence), or enjoy the green expanse of Princes Street Gardens. It is an historic setting - yet Edinburgh is a friendly, modern, cosmopolitan city which has something for everyone all year round.

This is one of the best sites that my wife and myself have stayed in. We went for a short break in Febuary and enjoyed it so much that we will be returning as soon as time permits. Very clean and centeral for Edinburgh.

We have been coming to stay at this site from Germany for many years and had so far, been very happy there. It is a very well located and accessible site. It is well organized and facilities are kept clean at all times. However, an unpleasant encounter with staff of the site made us feel very unwelcome, particularly as guests of the country. We left the campsite before the end of our holiday last time, in August 2005. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend this camp site.

Practical Caravan Top 100 Parks 2007

This site makes the perfect base for a city break in Edinburgh. Located on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, it is only four miles from Scotland’s historic capital, with a bus service taking you directly there from outside the site’s gate. If you prefer natural scenery, you are within a 30-minute drive of the mountains.
Most importantly, the site itself offers a high standard of facilities that will ensure your break is a real treat. You’ll receive
a warm welcome here, and finding your pitch is easy since they’re all clearly numbered and located in neat rows around the site’s perimeter. The high standard of the pitches, all of which are divided by grass or hedges, is welcome since the site’s popularity means you won’t always have a huge choice. Book ahead for school or public holidays.
Security is very good, with drop-down barriers and security guards on duty at night. Entry to the washblock, which is heated all year round and has soft background music to create
a relaxing atmosphere, is via
a button-operated lock. For younger children there is an enclosed play area set on soft bark chippings at the rear of the site. This ensures a peaceful atmosphere elsewhere.

Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews.

This large, popular site is located on the north-facing shore of the Firth of Forth, accessed by main trunk roads to the city. It's relatively new, and non-members are also welcome. The site is pristine, with quality facilities, making it a comfortable base from which motorcaravanners can explore the city and surrounding areas. It is also quiet, yet is well placed for those wanting activity as well as relaxation.
The main reception block is welcoming and provides a host of information for visitors to the area. All pitches are individually numbered and located in rows along the perimeter, and all are hardstanding, mainly on gravel. They are divided by a mixture of grass and hedges, and are well-served - their mains electric hook-up pillars also house satellite TV points (with limited channels available). Site roadways are first-class tarmac and all pitches are easily accessed. Entry and exit is via security-coded barriers. Entry to the centrally-located toilet block is controlled by a push-button coded lock. The building is tastefully decorated, always heated, and the soft background music makes it very pleasant to use.
Dogs are allowed and children are welcome. The children's play area is well equipped, with a soft bark chipping base, safely located to the rear of the site in its own enclosure. Such is the popularity of this site, and its location near to hillsides and the city, that booking ahead is always advised - especially during school and public holidays.
Edinburgh is a great low-season attraction. After all, if you're off motorcaravanning in the close season, there can be few cities with more to do. There's the famous castle, Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace, which are all important attractions, but there's also the wonderful Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street and many different cultural events throughout the low season.

This really is the best site in Lothian from which to explore Edinburgh, because you can leave the motorhome behind and take the bus into the heart of the city. From there, you will be able to explore superb attractions such as Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile, the castle and many others besides. And don't miss the wonderful Mary Kings Close tour – scary, but enthralling!
