A well designed campsite in the heart of Co. Mayo, with high standards of hygiene. Ideally located for walking, cycling, (salmon)-fishing and touring. The Clubhouse on the site with open fire and live-entertainment (in high season) offers an ideal opportunity to meet other campers.
i think this campsite looks good on the website, but was a dissapointment in reality. Nothing to do for kids apart from a small park.
Parents beware that there is a fast flowing river around the site, and although this might have changed now, there was no fence around it. Carrowkeel Camping & Caravan Park, County Mayo, Ireland
We had three wonderful days here.Alex and Rob very friendly.Well kept park, park supervised without the feeling some-one breathing down your neck We had a very relaxing time and would recomend this park to anyone. Can't wait to go back again.
We stayed in this site for 1 night in July 2009. The welcome was less than friendly the man at the desk appered stressed and had little time for me. The tolets and showers were clean and old. No soap in the toilets! which really annoys me! The shower only worked if you held in the button, which sounds ok till you need to rince your hair then its a pain. The site is very small so we were all parked a bit close to each other.
We didn't go into the Club house because it appeared that no one else was going either. The guy from the desk changed from his t-shirt to a shirt and then closed the reception and worked in the club house in the evening. I asked about using a washing machine but he woudn't let me use it he said you had to let them do it!...not a good thing if you don't want strangers looking at your dirty undies! 10 euro for 1 wash and dry.
We were glad to move on from this site and will not be using it again. also it is in the middle of no where.
