On Scotland’s sunshine coast, our Club Site at Dunbar is just down the road from the old Club Site at Barns Ness. At the edge of the site stands the Sloe Biggin Tower – now a listed ruin. There is a long, sandy surfing beach nearby.
We have stayed on this site twice and have enjoyed the stay both times. Both stays were two week duration. The site is kept litter free and the wardens different ones on each of our visits were equally as friendly and helpful. The shower and toilet facilities were kept in excellent condition.Plenty of showers and toilets and wash basins in mens and womens blocks. There is an Asda store just down the road on the A1. The site is quite exposed and we had some fantastic gales while on our visits so an awning was out of the question for us. If walking is what you like its a good walk down to the beach with the dog and a good walk along to Barns Ness lighthouse. You will even be able to collect golf balls on the beach that have over shot the runway from the nearby golf club. For first time visitors to the DUNBAR site if heading along the A1 from Edinburgh you will need to pass the Asda store and carry further on 1/4 mile to pick up the sign for the cement works and turn. Coming from the Berwick upon Tweed A1 side you will pick up the cement works first, you will have to cross over the A1.I think landmarks are always useful for visitors if its their first visit.
We will be coming again at some point in 2010. If we could give stars I would give it a 5. Thankyou caravanning and camping club.
