Our Club Site in Northern Ireland is definitely worth the trip across the Irish Sea, if you live on the mainland. Near the stunning Strangford Lough, it is surrounded by the beauty of Delamont Country Park.
Please note: There are only Club Super Service Pitches here, therefore the fee of £3.20 per night applies at all times. However, there is a small tent area with standard pitches, which can be booked through the site only.
Firstly may I say that on paper this site is good, facilities are very clean (so much so that there is no access to the toilets or showers for 1 1/2 hours every day while they are cleaned, right around checkout time as well so the alternative single disabled toilet ends up with a line of people outside all wanting to freshen up before they leave, I ended up deciding to leave it and had to endure a 2 hour drive home with my legs crossed, surely this is not safe). Also the grounds are immaculately kept with not so much as a dandilion to be found. Access to the park and loch are very good with plenty top do for families and couples.
However, maybe this is true of all caravan club parks, it's my first time visiting one in a lifetime of touring, it seems to me that the rules which are designed to make the park a better, safer experince for everyne should be replaced with one big sign on the gate that just says "no fun allowed". The managers, while being very pleasant, make it all too clear what is expected from you, where you can go, how you have to site your unit. Also The park was nowhere near full when we arrived and being a bit of a fool I had only brought a 10m hook up lead, yes I know it's silly in this day and age but it was a mistake, so having been shown to a plot 2 pitches away from the nearest hook up by the manager and me explaining what I had done I was basically told tough luck, no you can't park your van nose in so the lead will reach, thats against the rules, no we can't move you to another pitch even though the next one is available and closer to a post, it's your fault, you didn't read the rules, either spend the night in the dark or buy a new lead!
Hmm, would I recommend the site, Well the park is well kept and has good facilities (hence the 4 stars) but as I said it is about as much fun staying there as it is spending a weekend counting sheep in a small village outside of Berlin with an accountant called Herman, so It's your call!
This is without doubt one of the very best sites in Northern Ireland. Easy to find, with excellent road access from all directions, a superbly maintained site; extremely clean and well looked after. Most pitches are on the level with electricity, water and waste water hook ups. We have been there every year for the last 5 years, sometimes as much as three times in any one year and absolutely love it!
The site is a very good place from which to tour most of Northern Ireland with many roads being motorways or dual carriageways. It is an excellent site both for family holidays, couples and retired folk. There are plenty of interesting things to do for everyone's needs. We have always found the campsite staff to be most helpful and friendly.
This is most definitely a five star plus campsite and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
We go to Delamont regularly throughout the year from it opens in March until it closes in October/November. It is the best site by far in Northern Ireland with spotless facilities and the staff who are currently there are extremely friendly and helpful with no issue with regards to staying on past 12 noon at no extra charge. Highly recommended.

Delamont was the first Camping and Caravan Club site in Northern Ireland and is situated in an idyllic and unspoilt corner of County Down. All of the site’s 64 pitches are hardstanding with water, drainage and 16A hook-up, and the washing block is extremely clean and well presented. It also has disabled facilities and
baby-care areas, showers and drying areas. Other features include a freezing service, laundry room, washing-up area and small shop.
Families are very well catered for at Delamont and the site suits those who enjoy rambles or have an interest in nature, ornithology and water sports. There is also a children’s play area. But it is Delamont’s location that makes it stand out from other sites. It is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the south-west banks of Strangford Lough, and this provides it with stunning views. By walking to the shoreline you can explore the many fishing villages and National Trust properties along the coast. The Exploris Aquarium, at Portaferry, is also well worth a visit, as is Tyrella, among the most popular of the bathing beaches in the area.
Delamont is part of the much larger Delamont Country Park where you will find an adventure playground, walled gardens and the longest miniature railway in Northern Ireland, not to mention countless walks and nature trails. You get in free if you are staying at the site. In fact, Delamont is ideal for exploring the province as most of its sights can be reached in a day trip from the park. The port of Belfast is less than an hour’s drive away and you’re not far from the Irish Republic, either.
