User reviews of Hawthorn Farm

Professional Reviews

Practical Motorhome Independent Site Reviews.

This park is situated about three miles from the port of Dover, and is used by motorcaravanners as stopover point for the ferry terminal. From Dover, Hawthorn Farm is the closest site to the terminal, which ensures its popularity with visitors from both sides of the Channel. But many miss the opportunity to experience the attractions that the surrounding area has to offer in their rush to France and beyond.
The park is owned and operated by Keat Farm Parks, which operates a string of parks in the surrounding area. This particular site is a member of the ‘Best of British' parks group, and is open from the beginning of March to the end of October.
Set in 28 acres of landscaped grounds, there is a feeling of space for visitors to enjoy, with separate areas for caravans and motorcaravans, and the site's static caravans.
Visitors can go to London by train from Martin Mill station, which is close to the park - the downside of this being the noise from the hourly service passing close to the site. However, residents are compensated with the pristine, heated, toilet and shower facilities and copious amounts of free hot water. A separate key-operated facility is available for any disabled visitors who come to the site.
Some hardstanding pitches are available, but most standard pitches are laid out in individual terraces bordered by trees.
There is no children's playground, but the site boasts a fast-food-style café serving home-made cuisine, to give mum that much deserved break from the 'van's cooking facilities without having to leave the park.
A handy tourist information room allows campers to plan the day's activities in the area, and the site shop provides the basic necessities, including bread and milk. It serves hot and cold meals, too.
There is a card-operated security barrier at the entrance to the park, giving peace of mind for the site's inhabitants.
